Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) is an integral part of the IVF treatment procedure. During this procedure, a single sperm is directly injected into an egg. The entire procedure is carried out by renowned doctors in our center and this enhances the chances of pregnancy. We assure them, there is nothing to worry about as male infertility can be easily taken care of.
The ICSI procedure is usually performed in our labs. Primarily the eggs are derived and preserved. Consequently, the selected eggs which are going to be fertilized are scrutinized under a microscope. Once, our medical team is assured the egg is healthy they will insert a small needle containing sperm into the egg. Following this, the egg is again preserved and the doctors wait for natural fertilization to occur. Lastly, the embryo is transferred into the uterus to initiate a normal pregnancy. Those who are not comfortable with ICSI procedure may also opt for the option which is tubal reversal procedure.
Our doctors who address the infertility problems of couples and have recommended the IVF treatment require using the ICSI procedure also to ensure a hassle free pregnancy. Generally, ICSI is the first line of treatment for males who have low sperm count, abnormally shaped sperm or other related problems.
However, we do explain the couples visiting us for male infertility problems that ICSI is not the only option for all male infertility problems. For some males, the lower sperm count can happen as a result of a genetic problem. If the ICSI procedure is initiated in this case, there are every chance of the same genetic disorder to be passed on to the fetus. We have a host of other assisted reproductive technologies and our expert team will be able to recommend the best option.
